In October, students will have their first Academic & Career Planning (ACP) lesson. The focus of the lesson is to remind our students about two very valuable ACP Resources: InspireWI and Xello.
XELLO
Xello is an online program that is designed to help every student understand and navigate their future academic and career possibilities. Xello helps students discover relevant college, university, trade, and career options based on their personality, skills, and knowledge. All students have access to Xello at any time. Ask your child to show you their Xello Dashboard!
InspireWI
InspireWI is our local partner that helps connect our students with meaningful career experiences right here in our area. Opportunities available to our students include; job shadows, work co-ops, and a variety of field tips and career exploration events. This year, there will be many virtual and in-person opportunities for students. For more information visit: InspireWI.org
InspireWI continues to offer many valuable virtual and in-person career experience opportunities. Upcoming experiences are available in the areas of healthcare, culinary, engineering, manufacturing, finance, science, and much more. If your child finds an experience of interest, make sure to register for the event on the InspireWI webpage link below. All virtual events will be recorded, so if your child is unable to attend at the time it is offered, don't worry, you will have access to the recording. Don't see something of interest? Check back as InspireWI will be adding additional experiences regularly.

The Early College Credit Program (ECCP) statute allows Wisconsin public and private high school students to take one or more courses at an institution of higher education for high school and/or college credit.
“Institution of higher education” means an institution within the University of Wisconsin System, a tribally controlled college, or a private, nonprofit institution of higher education located in the state. While technical colleges are not eligible institutions under the new program, pupils that have completed 10th grade will continue to have the option to take courses at technical colleges through a separate statute, 38.12(14), Start College Now (SCN). Scholarships come from a number of sources - high school clubs, individuals, business and industry groups, community organizations, state and national organizations, colleges and universities, and religious organizations. The criteria varies from scholarship to scholarship, but there are some common traits that scholarship committees look for in choosing a recipient: Academic Excellence...Leadership...Service and Committment to School and Community...Individual Integrity
Information for scholarships that have been sent to the high school can be found in the Counseling Office. Scholarships with very narrow criteria are routed within the Counseling Office and individually announced to the students who may qualify. Applications are available mid-December, and are typically due in early February.
Some important things to remember while preparing a scholarship application:
1. Complete applications neatly and accurately. Word process or type unless instructions specify handwritten responses.
2. Follow instructions exactly as outlined by the sponsor or agency.
3. Submit only complete applications - a missing item may automatically disqualify the application.
4. If a letter of recommendation is required, request two copies. Allow 2-3 weeks for the teacher to complete the letter.
5. If a transcript is required, they can be obtained through the Counseling Office.
6. DEADLINES ARE STRICTLY ENFORCED. Return scholarship applications ahead of published deadlines.
