IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Absences & Attendance

+
-

Email pwhsattendance@pwssd.k12.wi.us or call 262-268-5501 for students arriving late, leaving early, or for full day absences.  We strongly encourage you to email for accuracy.

Students arriving late will receive a pass to class.  If a parent doesn’t call to excuse the absence, an after school detention will be issued. Detentions are 30 minutes and are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

If a student is leaving early, they should let their teacher know at the start of class and leave class at the designated time. Parents need to notify the office. No students can leave the building without parental notification for safety reasons. Students will check out in the office and take an appointment verification slip ("blue note"). Students may then leave the building.

Students should contact their teachers directly for any and all missed homework.

If a student is planning to be out for more than two days, they should pick up a Notification of Absence form ("yellow note"). The parent signed and completes the top portion of the form and then the student has each teacher sign it and write down any homework that needs to be completed. Lastly, the student brings it to the office for final approval.

Senior Portrait Yearbook Guidelines

Daily Bell Schedule

+
-

PWHS runs a modified block class schedule. The school day begins at 7:25 AM and runs until 2:38 PM. There are 8 class periods that are 45 minutes in length three days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Friday) and 4 class periods that are 85 minutes in length two days a week (Wednesday and Thursday). On Wednesday and Thursday there will also be a 38-minute resource/enrichment period each week. There is a 5-minute passing time between periods.

Medications

+
-

ALL prescription medication MUST be kept in the main office.  It needs to be brought in by the parent in the original prescription container along with the required Prescription Authorization form with a doctor’s signature.  Medication should NEVER be given to your child to bring to the office.

Note: At the high school level, students can keep non-prescription medication with them, so no paperwork is needed.

School Supply List

+
-

There is not a formal school supply list at PWHS. We suggest purchasing 5-6 folders and notebooks along with pens, pencils, and highlighters. Individual teachers will let students know on the first day of school if any special supplies are needed.

Work Permits

+
-

A work permit is required before anyone under the age of 16 is allowed to work in any job with the exception of agriculture or domestic service work. The minimum age for employment is 14, except for agriculture and domestic service. 16- and 17-year-old minors do NOT need to obtain a work permit prior to beginning work. Work permits will not be issued for minors ages 16 or 17.

State law prohibits the use of minors to perform hazardous work. Prohibited employment provisions still apply to work that 16- and 17-year-old minors can be employed to perform.
