Mr. David Watkins has served as the Superintendent for the Port Washington-Saukville School District since July 2021. Mr. Watkin's past experiences as a classroom teacher, coach, building administrator, and district-level leader have instilled in him an unwavering belief that every single student can learn, grow and succeed, and deserves to be seen, heard, understood, and supported in ways that represent them individually.  

Mr. Watkin's early educational experiences include teaching and coaching in Princeton, Wisconsin at the middle and high school level, serving the North Fond du Lac School District as a High School Assistant Principal and Athletic Director, and working as a Middle School Principal for the Waupun Area School District.  He then spent close to a decade working for the Madison Metropolitan School District as an Assistant Principal, Principal, and District AVID Director and School Improvement Leader.  He then spent five years in the Twin Cities area as the Director of Instruction, Director of Secondary Schools, and the Assistant Superintendent for the Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District.  Mr. Watkins then served three years as the Chief of Schools for the Saint Paul Public School District before returning to Wisconsin in July 2021.

Under Mr. Watkins' leadership, we have built upon the strong foundation that already existed in the Port Washington-Saukville School District by collectively finding ways to take our schools to the next level of excellence for the betterment of our students.  As PWSSD Superintendent, Mr. Watkins is especially proud of the District’s collective work, which includes prioritizing a strong Tier 1 instruction model and continuing to build our capacity in the area of high-functioning professional learning communities; the culture of school improvement that exists; the collective visioning and strategic planning that has begun; and the consistent and focused priority of keeping the students at the center of everything we do here in PWSSD.
