Do you like to work with clay, plaster, wood, wire, or paint? Then this club is for you! Do you like to draw? Do you like to paint? Do you like to try new things and work at your own pace? Then this club is for you!
A National Junior Honor Society that provides students with an opportunity to practice leadership skills and to participate in community service activities. The cost of participation is $32 which includes a Beta Club certificate and pin.
Students will learn basic woodworking skills and safety procedures while making one or two small projects. Each session will meet four times from 3:00pm - 4:30pm. The club fee of $20 will cover the cost of materials used. Each Session has a limit of 16 students. 24-25 PERMISSION FORM
Chess Club is for experienced and non-experienced students. Students will play weekly games as well as learn game rules and strategies. Tuesdays beginning October 1st - December 3rd and then will resume on January 7th through Mid March from 3pm to 4pm in the TJMS Library. The TJMS Annual Chess Tournament will be held on Saturday, January 25th. REGISTRATION INFORMATION FOR THE CHESS TOURNAMENT $10 for both semesters (ten weeks, each semester). PERMISSION FORM
Meets 3pm-4pm on specific dates in Sept and Oct. End of season is performing in the Home Coming Parade.
The FIRST Lego League Challenge Division is for students interested in learning about robotics, coding, and engineering. TJMS hosts multiple FIRST Lego League teams each fall. Participating students will work together on a team to build an autonomous competition robot, research an innovation project, and present their work to a panel of judges at a regional competition at the end of the season. This club runs from September to December, and meets twice a week. The sign-up form is posted in the TJMS weekly newsletter in the spring.
The Jazz Band is a performance-based musical ensemble for middle school instrumentalists. Students study and perform a variety of styles including rock, funk, Latin, and swing. Auditions are held at the end of September with the first rehearsal taking place the first week of October. Rehearsals take place Tuesdays and Fridays from 6:45am - 7:20am. CLICK HERE for more info.
Jaguar Singers is an auditioned, extra curricular choir that meets Mondays and Thursdays from 6:45am - 7:20am. A smaller group of auditioned singers formed from the Jaguar Singers called "Genesis" meet once a week beginning in December to focus on more contemporary and a cappella style singing. Held each November, the TJMS musical is a great way to get involved, meet new people, and have a great time singing, dancing, and/or acting on stage or helping behind the scenes. Auditions are typically held in early September. Click here for more info.
Science Club will be dedicated to doing different hands on experiments for fun, and to help members learn more about science in a lab based environment. Students will meet twice a month from 3:00-3:45 PM starting late January through May.
This is a club for students who want to positively impact their school community, demonstrate the Jaguar Way (Respect, Responsibility, and Kindness), and plan fun school events and activities.
Tennis Club: Mrs. Welton (Grades 5-8)
This is a club for students who want to explore the game of tennis. It is designed to teach the basics of tennis as well as skill development for those who already know how to play. Club meets in October.
Students in the yearbook club help capture memories and tell the story of their time at TJMS. Students will help with taking pictures, developing the theme, creating the design, editing, and organizing images for the yearbook. Students will work collaboratively to create a beautiful keepsake for themselves and their peers that will last a lifetime!
